Building effective pages

Make your mark

The perfect website

It’s a bonus when a website looks good: when each page gets your attention, and browsing is an enjoyable journey. We all love such websites, especially those of us who fancy ourselves as graphic designers—like me.

But is that the perfect website? No.

The perfect website is one which gets the results that the owner is looking for.

Results

  • The perfect business website gets customers, who buy products.
  • The perfect promotional website gets people to come to places and events.
  • The perfect membership website keeps all members in touch with what is going on—and maybe attracts new members.
  • The perfect charity website gets volunteers and donations.

And so on, and so on. You will know what your perfect website will do.

Michael Scannell: I aim for perfection

I build and maintain websites which appear high in Google and Bing (plus) for relevant queries, websites which take people quickly to what you want them to see and do, and websites which they come back to.

I do this by focusing on the visitors you want. Remember: nobody comes to any website who hasn’t chosen to, and nobody stays if they don't find what they are looking for.

By focusing on what your website visitors will be looking for, I make sure that you get what you are looking for.

For all the details, you need to browse through the “Web Solutions” section on my personal website. It includes my portfolio.

The 8 stages to a professionally designed website

  1. You own a registered domain name.
If you haven't yet registered a domain name, you can register a domain name with us now.
  2. You have set up website hosting.
If you haven't yet organised hosting, you can subscribe right now to a Web Costa Blanca hosting plan.
  3. You contact a designer.
‘A website built / rebuilt’: see your options.
  4. The designer establishes what you are hoping for from your website, what you want your website visitors to see and do, and what sort of impression you want your website to make.
This can be done at a meeting, or online, and needs you to respond to some key questions.
  5. The designer prepares a quotation, and gives you an idea of how long the website will take to complete.Deadlines can be agreed. Payment will often be in stages, with the final payment only due when the website is completed, and you are happy with it.
  6. The designer starts work.
It may be useful for you to have a temporary one-page public website to begin with, while the real website is put together behind the scenes.
  7. The designer checks that you are happy with the website as it is being developed, and makes any changes you call for.
At Web Costa Blanca, we may develop the whole website online, initially hiding it from the public.
  8. You end up with a website that does exactly what you want.
